Got Stress? LAUGH It Off!

COMEDY CENTRAL…

was what I used to tune into late at night after a long day of work.

Sadly, our local cable provider does not offer that channel in Malaysia. (ridiculous censorship board! hearing “penis” on TV and they may think our nation has been tainted)

I enjoy a good laugh, after all, we need people out there characterizing reality with a sense of humour (twisted or not)…that’s why we laugh! Cause it’s relatable …OR you have a reason why you’re into racist jokes  (o_O)

“Research has shown that the health benefits of laughter are far-ranging. While more studies need to be done, studies so far have shown that laughter can help relieve pain, bring greater happiness, and even increase immunity.” By , About.com Guide

For the sake of your mental health, check yourself in for some comedy relief (it’s better than crack)

Pole Dance JAM in Gyms

One thing I had missed while being out of KL so long, was teaching Pole Jam classes at fitness centers.

There’s something about being in a large fitness center with its pumping music, lights reflecting from mirrors everywhere, gym goers all pumped up around you working off their Nasi Lemak with determination, group fitness class participants are probably the only ones I see smiling and laughing WHILE they’re working out in the entire gym…or perhaps gyms are more like second homes to me since I was playing around in them at 10 years old and started a career in fitness later.

It’s been a great journey so far, spreading the love in fitness centers like Celebrity Fitness, Fitness First, Level Up Fitness, California Fitness, Pure Fitness and California Fitness & Yoga.  The fitness baby of Asia is steadily growing and I’m darn happy to be part of it. Hungry for more!

MakeUp for Active Women

One challenge I have from being active (read: sweaty) all the time – is keeping makeup on. (Having sensitive skin doesn’t make MakeUp any funer either).

Nonetheless, every girl needs to have her set of makeup on standby!

My saviour? – BARE MINERALS Foundation, carried by SEPHORA

What makes bareMinerals so special?

We use only the finest quality ingredients in our products to give you everything you want without anything your skin doesn’t need. Our proprietary bareMinerals formula represents the ideal mix of makeup and skincare; problem-solving cosmetics that perfect and pamper the complexion. It’s makeup so pure you can sleep in it.

And because that’s how we think, you’ll never find anything that’s not healthy, natural or good for you in our products. What’s not in bareMinerals is just as important as what’s in them. Less is more. – www.bareescentuals.com

I knew I would be hooked forever since the first time I stepped in the store in Canada and hung out in there for an hour O_O …. and how bummed I would be knowing I won’t be accessing it freely in the city I live in (Kuala Lumpur).

Sephora in Singapore had been the next-best option, with TWO stores total in ION Orchard and Ngee Ann City.

WELL, NOT ANYMOOOOOOORREEEEEE!

SEPHORA is due to open in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, inside Starhill Gallery!

Other than whole range of makeup brands, they also carry brands in skin care, hair care, body care and accessories. Like a more glamorous factory of SASA!

Another favorite factor, is that they carry some pretty good organic brands in hair and body care.  Most outdoor active women are already exposed to air and water pollution, caring for the body with products containing less harmful chemicals makes a difference in the long run.

We train hard for our mind and bodies

….so to reward the spirit?

A nice warm soothing bath.

TRX Action in Singapore

Held at SPEED Institute, the first public TRX-GSTC was launched on 27 February, 2011!

It was an insanely GREAT experience!

Thanks to J,Linzi, Marcel & Ursula’s positive encouragements, I pushed past my shitty situation and refueled the required energy (drained by Vampires for weeks!) to do my best in making it a FUN TRX DAY!

So cool to see fellow TRX enthusiasts from Malaysia too!

TRX MALAYSIA

I LOVE Wai Hoong’s(far left) T-shirt! Spot it? Spot it? 😀

Christine (green top) looks like she’s in fantastic shape since the last time I saw her! Such a trooper too! Must have been agonizing having to sit out on the TRX group workouts because of food poisoning 🙁

G (far right) from Penang! TRX love had finally spread up north Malaysian peninsular 😀

Know What’s Important

It’s the Journey that’s Important…

by: John McLeod

Life, sometimes so wearying
Is worth its weight in gold
The experience of traveling
Lends a wisdom that is old
Beyond our ‘living memory’
A softly spoken prayer:
“It’s the journey that’s important,
Not the getting there!”

Ins and outs and ups and downs
Life’s road meanders aimlessly?
Or so it seems, but somehow
Leads us where we need to be,
And being simply human
We oft question and compare….
“Is the journey so important
Or the getting there?”

And thus it’s always been
That question pondered down the ages
By simple men with simple ways
To wise and ancient sages….
How sweet then, quietly knowing
Reaching destination fair:
“It’s the journey that’s important,
Not the getting there!”

To Release “Control”

Human Wall

“The strength of the team is each individual member… the strength of each member is the team!”

(Phil Jackson, Coach, Chicago Bulls)

Coach Chris Heddles at ZigZag Circus, gave me a very good insight with a few simple words

“Stop having the need to control…”

Being the “flyer” in acro, you have to let the “base” control you and your body movements. Telling that to someone who’s always been working solo on pole and aerial…yeah…took a lot of work MENTALLY for me to NOT BACK OUT from standing on his shoulders!

Coach made me yell "I'm flying, Jack, I'm flying!" (-___-'')
A LOT....of concentration

Nonetheless, I extremely glad I didn’t back out (plus I would’ve ended up kicking myself in the arse since that was considered one of the easiest thing to do -___- ). It was an exhilarating experience and I’m definitely looking forward to more acro opportunities!
